I presented my Lady GagaMA thesis research at the annual Pop Culture Association of Canada conference last week in Niagara Falls! After the presentation, profs from various institutions gave me their business cards and I was also asked to contribute to a Gaga-specific edition of the Canadian Journal of Fandom! So exciting! My unique little new media You and I/Haus of U video went over really well with the people attending, which was a nice change from other places where people thought it was too non-traditional and didn’t receive it well. I also hung out with a wax Gaga that didn’t really look like Gaga but was still fun. haha

The Recording Industry Association of America, the company that deals with single certifications (gold, platinum, diamond), announced earlier today that it will be including on-demand audio and video streams to its certification program. In light of this new change, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” has been officially certified DIAMOND for selling over 10,000,000 copies in the United States alone. This makes the song Gaga’s most successful in the US as well as one of the only Diamond-certified songs of the 21st century.

With these changes taking effect, we should see all of Lady Gaga’s singles, notably “Judas” and “Marry The Night”, receive platinum certifications. Congratulations.
